The ‘Sense of Silence’ Series

Importantly, the ‘Sense of Silence’ books are set in the real world. Yes, they contain fantasy and science-fiction elements, but the heroes and villains are real people, living in recognisable places, attempting to live normal lives even though they have abnormal abilities. The books examine whether this is possible and, if so, on what terms.

The books also suggest that the evolution of humans with mental powers is the direction of travel necessary to see the species break free of this planet and spread through the galaxy.

Sam Wright

Sam Wright is the hero of the ‘Sense of Silence’ series. He thinks of himself as a normal teenager until he discovers his telepathic ability as a result of a tragic accident just before his fourteenth birthday.

He uses his new-found power to save a boy’s life but the ensuing publicity causes him to be dragged, against his will, into a world of crime and danger.

He has to cope with the pressures of being hunted not only by criminals who would kill him but also by the Authorities, whom he assumes would do the same.
